Title: Superperformance with Snowflake & Direct Query in Power BI
Power BI is widely used in many companies for monitoring and steering key indicators. Typically, data is imported from a data platform into Power BI for analysis. However, there are several functional use cases where we do not want to import the data into Power BI but instead base it directly on the data platform. Unfortunately, experience shows that this approach (Direct Query) often results in poor performance, making it an unacceptable alternative for users.
This session will focus on optimizations in Power BI and the data platform that significantly enhance the performance of Direct Query, making it much faster and more viable

Title: The Walking Dead: How to run a live Excel on Snowflake
BI is the top workload on Snowflake, yet thereโs no one-size-fits-all architecture for connecting BI tools. Should you load data, query Snowflake directly, or use a semantic layer? Each choice impacts cost, performance, governance, and usability. In this session, weโll explore these trade-offs, comparing traditional BI approaches with the emerging role of a semantic layer.
