About this event

🚀 You've heard that AI Agents are going to 100x productivity or replace us all. But here's the thing -- most folks haven't actually built one. Come learn how Snowflake's newest AI tools can go from buzzwords to business value: all in under one hour. This session is your chance to see what's real vs hype by rolling up your 💪 sleeves (just a teensy bit) and walking away with something useful -- without needing to be a developer.

Who should attend? Data leaders, managers, and anyone curious about what's possible with AI in Snowflake -- no PhD required.

What You Will Learn 👨‍🏫

Gustaf (Gus) Cavanaugh is an avid Snowflake and Python user who works at Dataiku and has volunteered to not only speak, but also provide a hands-on lab. Here's what Gus will share with the group:

  • What are AI Agents anyway
A jargon-free intro to what Agents do, why they matter, and how we got here.

  • Real-World Use Cases
We'll share examples of how companies are using Agents today -- automating insights, streamlining ops, and boosting decision support --AND where they've stubbed their toes along the way!

  • Why You Should Build Agents in Snowflake with Cortex
Quick survey of Agent frameworks and development tools, and why learning (and USING) Snowflake Cortex is worth your time.

  • Live Walkthrough: Build Your First Agent
No buzzwords, just hands-on. We'll walk through a step-by-step example using Snowflake Cortex -- simple enough to follow, powerful enough to spark ideas for your team. Learn how to extract minimal Python code to run a Cortex Agent against your own data in Snowflake so you get practical experience translating natural language into SQL and actionable insights.

If you've never used Python or written code, this is the hands-on coding lab in Python FOR YOU. Bring a laptop, connect to the WiFi, and we'll take it from there.

🚨 Important Note about RSVP Tickets 📝

  • If you're interested in this topic but don't necessarily want to get hands-on, no worries! To help us better know how you'd like to participate, though, there are two different ticket types available for this Snowflake user group meeting.

  • One ticket type is specifically for hands-on participation. This ticket type will hold a space for you at a table where you'll have a place to put your laptop. The other ticket type is for those who want to attend without necessarily participating hands-on. We'll have plenty of chairs for people who want to attend without participating hands-on.

  • We have a limited space for hands-on participation so once those tickets are gone, the only RSVP available will be attendee only. Of course, you're welcome to bring your laptop in case a space opens up at a table.

  • Once we've reached capacity for RSVP, there will only be registrations for a waitlist. Everyone who is on the waitlist will be admitted but there will be a 15-minute delay before admittance.
