About this event

Join us for a hands-on workshop where you'll build a real AI agent from scratch β€” all in a terminal β€” using Snowflake Cortex Code (CoCo). You'll leave with a complete, demoable agent, built end-to-end by you.

We're working with a real dataset: 107M GitHub events, live from public S3. By the end of the night you'll have a working AI agent, live in Snowflake, answering real questions grounded in real data.

πŸ“… Date:   Sept 24, 2026
πŸ•• Time:  4:00 PM - 6:30 PM
πŸ“ Venue: Snowflake, 1646 123rd Ave NE, Room #1.24, Bellevue, WA 98005

Parking: You are welcome to park in the Snowflake Garage located at 123rd Ave NE.

Drive down the ramp and take a left at the bottom (Level A). Park in any available parking space. After parking, follow the signage to the garage elevator, up to Level 1. From there, proceed right to the Building Lobby. Visitor parking is complimentary

Agenda

4:00 – 4:15 PM: Check-in & Welcome

4:15 – 5:45 PM: Build a Live AI Agent with Snowflake CoCo

5:45 – 6:00 PM: Q&A / Live Troubleshooting

6:00 – 6:30 PM: Networking (Snacks will be provided)

Speaker: Jim Jelic, Principal Technical Architect, Snowflake

What We're Building

Load 107M GitHub events, build a trending-repos view, wrap it in natural-language output with AI_COMPLETE, and stand up a Cortex Search Service + Cortex Agent. You'll leave with a working agent answering questions grounded in real data.

What's Next
Once your agent is live, it doesn't have to stay inside Snowflake β€” the same agent can be exposed to tools like Claude Desktop, Cursor, or VS Code. We'll close with a quick look at what that opens up β€” no setup required tonight.

Good for: data engineers, AI/ML practitioners, and anyone curious about building AI agents directly on top of their data in Snowflake.

No prior Snowflake experience required.

Come Prepared: Do This Before You Arrive

This runs in Snowflake CoCo. Pick whichever fits how you like to work:

- CoCo CLI β€” a terminal tool, works alongside your existing editor

- CoCo Desktop β€” a standalone IDE, no separate terminal setup needed

Please do this before the session:

1. Install CoCo β€” choose CLI or Desktop

Option A: CoCo CLI (terminal)

macOS / Linux / WSL:

curl -LsS https://ai.snowflake.com/static/cc-scripts/install.sh | sh

Windows (PowerShell):

irm https://ai.snowflake.com/static/cc-scripts/install.ps1 | iex

Confirm it installed:

cortex --version

Option B: CoCo Desktop (standalone app) β€” download for macOS or Windows: https://www.snowflake.com/en/product/snowflake-coco/downloads/

2. Grab a free Snowflake trial account

Use this link: it activates the AI features we need for the workshop:

Choose AWS & the suggested region when prompted, and select AI Data Cloud For Enterprise from the toggle at the top of the signup page. [Link active window (UTC): September 22, 2026]

⚠️ Already have a Snowflake trial from a previous session? Create a fresh one using the link above: older trials may not have the AI features this workshop needs, and free trials expire after 30 days.

3. Bring a laptop

You'll need a terminal, a code editor (VS Code, Cursor, or similar), and admin rights to install a CLI tool. Wi-Fi will be provided.

Why This Matters

The point isn't "switch to CoCo":  it's that your data does better work when it lives in Snowflake, however you choose to talk to it. Tonight, you'll see exactly what that looks like, live, on data you queried yourself.

See you there!
